If you are interested in creating a film for AV Channel, you can follow the process here. The process is not guaranteed to be fast as there are many stages to be able to approve an idea. Anyone with a great idea can follow the process of creating a film. This process only applies to original films. If you wish to create a series, follow the steps on Production Process.
PITCHING AN IDEA[]
The first step to creating a film is to pitch an idea. To do this, head to the Pitching Board and create a new forum with the following specifications:
- Write the Working Title of your Film in the title area. Working Title is the title of your film that is not the final title and can be changed throughout the course of the Production Process.
- In one paragraph, write the premise or plot of your film.
- In another paragraph, introduce the main characters (Name and a sentence or two to describe them and their role).
Users in the Wiki will then reply to the thread to suggest ideas, ask questions about the film, and say their opinion about the it. The board of AV Channel will then take a vote as to whether the film will be a potential success and if production should start. If the board votes YES, a press release will be made regarding start of production. The creator will also receive a message on their Message Wall. If the board votes NO, the film will not be considered. In the event that a film is turned down, the creator cannot re-submit the idea a second time. However, they can submit the idea to a different channel, without any complications.
FORMING A PRODUCTION TEAM[]
Just like a production team in a series, the production team in a film works the same way. In order for the film to be successful, the creator needs to gather a production team. The creator can only start forming his/her production team once production for the film has been approved and announced. To form a production team, head to the Job Fair Board and post a thread with the following:
- On the title area, type: "Production Team -Working Title"
- List open positions for your team and the number for each position in brackets.
To complete a production team, it has to consist of:
- Director(s) (Any number)
- Writer(s) (Any Number)
- Producer (max. 2)
- Casting Director (max. 1)
- Editor(s) (max. 3)
- Production Designer (Any number)
- Director of Photography (max. 1)
The creator can be a Director/Writer/Producer but not a Casting Director. If the show requires music, the creator can open a position for Songwriter.
CASTING[]
Once the team is formed, the production can begin with casting. The first job is to find cast members to play the parts. The Casting Director will head to the Casting Board and post a thread with the following:
- Indicate the title/working title of the film.
- List the all the roles, including extras. Each role should have a short description with age, gender, and if applicable, specific talents (singing, dancing)
Users can suggest actors that can play the roles. Talent Managers can also comment the name of their clients that can play the role. To know more about Talent Managers, head to the Talent Managers' page. The creator also has the options to suggest an actor that they think can play the role. If the actor has a Talent Manager, the casting director can contact them. Casting for a film should last for a maximum of two weeks after the announcement for start of production.
SCOUTING FOR PRODUCTION COMPANY[]
Before filming, the production team has to scout for a production company willing to produce the film. The producer from the production team will head to Production Companies Board and post a thread looking for potential production companies. Each film is entitled to a maximum of two production companies. The production team can also go to a second option, creating a production company or using an existing one owned by one of the members of the production team. To create a production company, head over to Production Companies. Production Companies have to be approved with producing for films before partnering with film producers.
MAKING THE FILM[]
To make the film, the director, writer and director of photography will work together to write a descriptive plot summary for the pilot. It will serve as the whole story and all details should be included. The following should be put into a document (Word Document, PDF, Pages Document):
- Final Title of Film
- Production Code of the Film
- List of the entire Cast and Characters including extras.
- The descriptive plot of the film (More than eight paragraphs)
- Credits (All crew and cast)
The creator will then email this document to officialavchannel@gmail.com with the subject: Film - Title of Film. The board will examine the document to see if the film passes the screening. If the board votes YES, a press release will be made indicating film's premiere date and its TV Rating. If the board votes NO, the film will not go through and the production team will have to make amends according to the requirements by the board. At this point, the film belongs to AV Channel and is not for sale to other channels. Once the production team finishes making changes, the board will review it once more and then make a press release.
MAKING THE FILM & MAIN CHARACTER PAGE[]
It is the production team's responsibility to create the page of the film once it has been announced to start production. Follow the format of the page here: Page Formats. Once the film starts production, the production team will create actor pages ONLY If the actor does not have an existing page. Character pages should not be created until after the premiere of the film.
SEQUELS[]
If the film is a success, a sequel may be considered, if the production team agrees to it. Once the board votes YES on the sequel, production can start for the sequel of the film.
